| Michael Grady - Playwright |
|
Michael has written over 20 plays including: Past History; White Picket Fence; Phenomenal Smith and Yesterday’s Hero. His first play, Dancers, won the National Student Playwriting Award and the William Morris Agency Award. Michael has written for: Sundance Playwright’s Lab; Purple Rose Theatre Company; Florida Stage; Philadelphia Theatre Company; and Theatre Themis in the Netherlands. Michael received an ariZoni Award (1992) for outstanding work as a playwright.

| Matthew Wiener - Playwright |
This is Matthew’s fifteenth season as Producing Artistic Director of Actors Theatre. This season he will direct Shipwrecked, Secret Order and, of course, A Christmas Carol. Since 1993 he has directed over 20 productions for Actors Theatre including: Doubt, a Parable, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Speak Spanish to Me, The Pillowman, The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow, Benefactors, Blue/Orange, Sight Unseen, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Angels in America, Spinning Into Butter, Something in the Air, The Archbishop’s Ceiling, Hedda Gabler, The Essential Henry V, Below The Belt, and of course, A Christmas Carol. During his tenure, Actors Theatre has received numerous local awards including Outstanding Arts Organization from Business Volunteers for the Arts, and Outstanding Producing Theatre from the Arizona Theatre Alliance. Matthew came to Actors Theatre from Arizona Theatre Company where he was the Associate Artistic Director for four years. Some favorite shows from that time include: Nora, Dancing at Lughnasa, Fires in the Mirror, Death and the Maiden, and The Price. He has also directed and worked at: North Coast Repertory, Childsplay, Arizona Jewish Theatre Company, The Children’s Theatre Company, The Cleveland Playhouse, American Conservatory Theatre, The Whole Theatre, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Berkshire Theatre Festival, The Cider Mill Playhouse, and Yale Repertory Theatre. He has served on the Maricopa Regional Arts and Culture Task Force. He was a founding board member of Arizona Theatre Alliance. He has served on grant panels for Arizona Commission on the Arts, Tucson/Pima Arts Council and the Nevada Arts Council. He has been a guest lecturer at Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Pima Community College, and Scottsdale Community College. Matthew holds an MFA from the Yale School of Drama, where he was the Artistic Director of the Yale Cabaret. He is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. Matthew resides in Phoenix with his wife Marion, and their twin daughters Jordan and Claire.

| Alan Ruch - Composer |
|
Alan is an award-winning theatre composer and lyricist. He has written words and music for nationally-recognized productions The Yellow Boat and A Christmas Carol, among others. Alan is Musical Director for Almark Productions and has worked for PCPA Theaterfest; Burbage Theatre Ensemble; Childsplay; Arizona Company of Theatrical Artists; and Wexler Productions. An accomplished pianist, Alan made his concert debut at 16, playing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue at Phoenix Symphony Hall. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild, Inc.

| Michael Barnard - Choreographer |
|
Michael has traveled the country producing, directing and choreographing only to discover, “there’s no place like home.” Michael returned to AZ as Producing Artistic Director of Phoenix Theatre. He has worked for Disney Entertainment and directed for most Valley theatres. Besides his 300-plus theatrical credits, Michael has conceived and directed over 500 special events and convention shows.

| Jeff Thomson - Scenic Design |
Jeff has worked with Actors Theatre for 23 years. He has designed scenery and lights for 45 years at many companies including Mixed Blood Theatre, Arizona Theatre Co., Childsplay, and Fulton Opera. Jeff has also designed for TNT, HBO, and MTV and was a Set Designer for two films: Dinner at Eight and Mother Goose Rock 'N Rhyme. Jeff is the Production Designer for the feature Damaged, filming in Atlanta in 2010. Jeff is an all-category member of United Scenic Artists and Professor of Theatre and Film at ASU. He is pleased to be married to the talented designer Kara Thomson who designed Boom earlier this season.

| Susan Johnson-Hood - Costume Design |
|
Susan was the Resident Costume Designer for Actors Theatre from 1994 to 1999. She most recently returned as a guest designer for Angels in America. While living in California, she designed costumes for the Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts, Cuesta College and the Centerpoint Theatre Group. She has also designed costumes for: Childsplay, Inc., Phoenix Theatre, ASU, Montana State University, Arizona Shakespeare Festival and the Alaska Theatre of Youth.

| Paul A. Black - Lighting Design |
|
Paul is delighted to be back working with Actors Theatre. Paul's recent designs include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and the Premiere of Eclectic Society at Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, Driving Miss Daisy and Annie at the Fulton Opera House. Other favorite designs include Hairspray, World Premiere of Treasure Island, Les Miserables and The Drowsy Chaperone. Paul is looking forward to designing at the American Contemporary Theatre Festival this summer. Paul is also the executive for P2Design, a corporate event design company.

| David Temby - Sound Design |
|
David has created sound effects and sound systems for many theatrical productions. He is the recipient of several ariZoni awards for excellence in sound design, and is also the General Manager for Clearwing Productions, a company that provides sound & lighting systems, designs, and productions for concerts, corporate shows, theatrical shows, and special events. David makes his home in Phoenix with his wife, Jenifer.

| April S. Smith - Stage Manager |

This is April's sixth season as Resident Stage Manager for Actors Theatre. Locally she has worked with Arizona Theater Company, Phoenix Theatre, Childsplay, Southwest Shakespeare Co, Shakespeare Sedona, Nearly Naked Theater, The Shakespeare Theater, Black Theatre Troupe, The Herberger Theater, and the Orpheum Theater. April is a member of Actors' Equity Association, and she resides in Phoenix with her husband Christian and their dog, Cecelia.

| Cat Dragon - Property Design |
|
Cat has worked in theatre, film and television for over 20 years. Companies include: LATC, ATC, The Mark Taper Forum, The Old Globe, Lincoln Center and the Royal National Theatre. Other credits: The Oscars, MTV and PBS Great Performances. She has taught Props and Art Direction at UCLA; was an Artist-in-Residence for Scottsdale Schools and ASU.

| Manuella Needhammer - Hair and Make-Up Design |
Manuela has worked in professional theater for more than 30 years. She started as a make-up and wig artist for the Canadian Opera Company, worked for the National Ballet of Canada for 10 years and later free-lanced for such wonderful companies as Actors Theatre. She has been the resident costume designer at NAU Opera for the last 4 years, designing such works as Cosi Fan Tutte, Serse, Der Kaiser von Atlantis, Don Giovanni and Die Fledermaus. She also writes and directs plays for children. A many time Arizoni winner for design excellence, Manuela is excited to be back at Actors Theatre to work on A Christmas Carol for the 10th time.
